Shalom TBAY!
Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: Life is Finite: It’s Time to Reach Out.
On Saturday, we looked at the way in which Judah approached Joseph to beg that Joseph keep him instead of Benjamin and discussed why he did this. Was it because he didn’t want Joseph’s advisers to hear (and why?)? Was it because he knew Joseph was the one with the power? Or was it because he thought the advisors would pressure Joseph not to grant the request? Is Rabbeinu Bahya accurate that Judah had three major objectives: to assuage Joseph’s anger with words, to demand his rights on a legal basis, and (as a last resort) to take Bejamin back by force? What do you think? Here is a link to the Source Sheet.
