What we discussed: Tzav

Shalom TBAY!

Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? On Friday night, I discussed the current situation in Israel. Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: Do Not Let the Fire Go Out – A D’Var Torah about Israeli Judicial Reform.

On Saturday, we discussed the requirement the priests wash the blood from their clothes after the sacrifices and that they not leave the Temple area without having done so. Does the splattering of blood change the nature of that clothing to make it holier than it had been before? Does it make sense that the priests cannot take a holy item from that place to somewhere else and is washing the clothes really a way to remove the holiness to avoid them from making it an unholy act? How about the requirement that without the washing the clothing would need to be burned after 3 days just like the offering itself? What do you think? Here is a link to the source sheet.

Saturday afternoon we celebrated the Bat Mitzvah of Lorelai Moscariello. Lorelai did a beautiful job! She had a very powerful and personal D’Var Torah, which you can read here. Because it was a Mincha service, she did not read Haftarah and instead talked about a person she views as a modern-day prophet. You can read her talk here.

Shavua Tov!
