Torah Question of the Week: In what ways do children bring honor to their parents? Do parents determine this or do the children? Should parents communicate such expectations to their children? In this week’s Torah portion, Jacob blesses his sons and also Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Menasha, telling them about their future roles their tribes will play in the community, some positive and some not-so-positive. How do your actions fulfil the roles your parents expected you to play?
