Shalom TBAY!
Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: We Don’t Fit Neatly into Little Boxes – For Transgender Day of Visibility.
On Saturday, we discussed the actions of someone who is tamei (impure) on their way out of the city, including tearing their clothes, covering their upper lip and calling out, “Impure! Impure!” We noted the similarities with wearing masks and identifying who is sick – and the role that this plays in maintaining public health. We also noted that there is always someone who’s going to disagree with what they are told, saying that it isn’t necessary and so that the laws were very important. What do you think? Here is a link to the Source Sheet.
We are currently hosting our reading of a complete cycle of Psalms in honor of those who have been and continue to be affected by COVID-19. You can sign up to read one here: https://tinyurl.com/TBAY-Psalms . It is very easy. Just pick a Psalm (or two or more) and read it aloud in English or Hebrew, at a time of your choosing.
Shavua Tov!
