Shalom TBAY!
Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: The Legacy of Judith Kaplan Eisenstein.
On Saturday, we discussed the priest’s duty of emptying the ashes from the altar and why he was commanded to wear his vestments to empty them to a spot next to the altar and then to change them before bringing them outside. We examined the conflicting views of whether this was obligatory or not and also noted that it was the priest “taking out the trash” and what an important message that was. Here is a link to the Source Sheet.
Many thanks to those who helped with services this week in Ben’s absence: Paul Peyser for a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat, Nate Rajs for the Preliminary service and for handling all the Gabbi and Torah heavy lifting, Ken Melman for chanting the WHOLE Torah portion AND the Haftarah, and David Green for a beautiful Musaf. We are so grateful.
Shavua Tov!
