Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: Leaving The Light On.
On Saturday, we discussed the Urim and Tumim – the magical stones on the High Priest’s choshen (breastplate) that are described as being like an oracle for the Israelite people. We pondered what they were, why they existed and what gave them all this power. We discussed the relationship of the Israelites to their pagen neighbors and how these might have picked up from them or might exist so that their neighbors would better understand the Israelite God.
