Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat?
On Friday we welcomed our new members to the synagogue. We had a great crowd for our Kosher Chinese Dinner and the Shabbat Alive! service. Here is a link to Friday Night’s D’Var Torah: The Blessings We Each Bring.
On Saturday, we discussed Joseph’s suggestion that Pharaoh appoint someone understanding and wise to see Egypt through the years of plenty and years of famine. Our commentators believed that he was showing Pharaoh that he should be that person. We wondered what would make Joseph think he was the right person to do this and whether he was playing on Pharaoh’s fears of not being able to have enough food, much in the way that people retiring are afraid they will not have enough for retirement.
