Shalom TBAY!
Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Go Forward… And Get Vaccinated”.
On Shabbat morning, we discussed the Israelites’ complaint that it would have been better for God to kill them in Egypt than to die of starvation in the wilderness. You can find the Source Sheet here. Some questions we considered were: First, how were the Israelites going to die in Egypt that would have been preferable to staving in the wilderness? From old age? From the Angel of Death? From refusing to leave? From something else? Second, did they really eat their fill? Why are they talking about the bread they ate in Egypt? Did they really have a lot? Did they all have access to meat, or was the verse referring to two groups of Israelites: overseers and laborers? Were they allowed to eat the meat or were they tending to it? (Note it does not say they had meat.)
