Shalom TBAY!
Wondering what we discussed this past Shabbat? Here is a link to Friday’s D’var Torah on Vay’chi: The Blessing of Acceptance.
On Shabbat morning, we discussed Benjamin, Joseph’s little brother and Jacob’s youngest son. When Jacob blesses him, he says that Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, hunting in the morning and distributing prey in the evening. We thought about what is most interesting/relevant in this comparison. The fearlessness? That wolves hunt in packs? That the wolf hunts in the morning and divides/distributes at night and does not remain with its prey during the day? We considered the phrase, “a wolf in sheep’s clothing” and whether the fact that the brothers are shepherds would this affect our understanding of the verse. You can find the Source Sheet here.
Shavua Tov and, again, my very best wishes for a happy, healthy and safe 2021!!
